On a wintry day in 1801, Mr. Lockwood comes to his new rented manor, Thrushcross Grange. He meets with his cantankerous landlord Heathcliff at Wuthering Heights and then encounters his maid Nelly. Lockwood asks Nelly to tell him about what happened to Heathcliff and his family after a storm forces him to stay at Wuthering Heights for the night. Wuthering Heights is non-linear and told in several flashbacks with Lockwood and Nelly as the narrators. The story of Heathcliff’s life includes the destructive power of love, the emptiness of vengeance, and the uncertainty of living life in the upper social class. Heathcliff’s life is full of pain and hate, but in the end, love and its healing has the final say.
