Jimmy Corrigan is a meek, sad, and lonely man child in his late thirties. He has an overbearing mother, works in a mindless job, and has never met his father. Jimmy’s drab existence changes when he receives a letter from his father asking Jimmy to meet him so they could reconcile. As Jimmy undertakes his uncomfortable journey, he encounters many disappointing and depressing moments that reveal many truths and an understanding about life. Jimmy Corrigan, The Smartest Kid on Earth, is a story about how the absence, or presence, of parents can have a profoundly negative influence on their children. It takes full advantage of the comic book medium to create a detailed and surreal reading experience.
