To Kill A Mockingbird is one of, if not the most influential and iconic stories about racism and tolerance in American history. The narrator of the story is the six-year-old girl Scout as she witnesses her father Atticus defend a black man in court who faces accusations of raping a white woman. To Kill A Mockingbird is a story about the loss of innocence in the face of racial injustice and discrimination. Yet it is also a story full of warmth and humor that is found between the pages. Atticus Finch has become an inspiration and example for lawyers across the country. To Kill A Mockingbird is perhaps the most read book about race in America and many champion it as a book everyone must read before they die.
