The Shawshank Redemption, based on the Stephen King novel, follows Andy Dufresne and his time in prison after his conviction as his wife’s murderer. As Andy battles against the struggles and despair common in prisons, we watch him earn the appreciation of the prison guards, the warden, and one of the particular inmates. Through the power of hope, Andy’s fight for humanity was a story that captivated audiences and earned seven Oscar nominations.
