On July 17, 2002, every male human and animal on earth die at once. The women remain to pick up the pieces of a broken world and face the fear of extinction. The survivors believe it is hopeless, but that is not true. Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist, and his pet Capuchin monkey Ampersand somehow survive the mysterious plague and are the last hope for the human race. Y: The Last Man explores a human apocalypse from a unique perspective and raises many interesting questions about gender politics, how different people respond to great tragedy, and finding the will to live. Y: The Last Man is a gold standard for what all science fiction stories should aspire to be.
