Chinatown stars Jack Nicholson as PI Jake Gittes on what looks like an ordinary infinitely case, but after Mrs. Mulwray hires him to find her missing husband he begins to realize things are not what they seem. Audiences anxiously followed Gittes as he quickly falls into a web of seduction, murder, and deceit at every turn. Chinatown not only won an Oscar for best screenplay but it launched Jack Nicholson into stardom that has not faded since.
