Here it is, the movie that revolutionized science fiction filmmaking forever. Directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick, 2001: A Space Odyssey follows the history of humanity from the moment they discovered their first tool to the creation of their most advanced tool. The film was unique in having little to no dialogue, dynamic visuals, and impressive special effects. There are so many interesting ideas in this film that it would be impossible to do them justice in this summary. What I can say, though, is that this film is closer than any other to depicting sheer visual poetry.
