If it wasn’t for Chris Claremont and his team, the X-Men would not have become the beloved team they are today. The legendary Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the X-Men, yet the series never became successful and was canceled in 1970. The series received fresh interest with the release of Giant-Size X-Men and new writer Chris Claremont. Under Claremont’s vision, Uncanny X-Men became a juggernaut and contained some of the most iconic superhero stories, including The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past. Claremont introduced hundreds of beloved characters in a series that became revolutionary. Uncanny X-Men became more than a standard Superhero story, filled with stories of science fiction, soap opera, and, of course, political commentary.
