The Sound of Music, based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, follows the postulant Maria and the story of how she fell in love with a retired sea captain whom the Nazis wish to recruit to help them in their conquest. The songs are lovely, the emotion is palpable, and the acting superb. The Sound of Music might just be the greatest movie musical of all time.
