Legion of Superheroes was a long-running series from The Silver Age that was popular but never beloved. This changed when Paul Levitz took on the job as the series writer and wrote some of the most beloved Legion of Superheroes stories of all time. The story that stands above the rest as one of the most beloved comic book stories of all time is The Great Darkness Saga, which featured one of DC Comics’ most infamous villains. The story featured every member of the Legion that existed up to that point fighting in a battle rivaled only by the greatest comic book events.
