Batman: The Long Halloween is a sequel to the iconic story Batman: Year One. Batman is still new to fighting the criminals of Gotham and now must learn the identity of Holiday, a serial killer who murders a victim once a month during a holiday. Gotham’s dark knight must join forces with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Commissioner James Gordon to stop Holiday from taking any more lives along with preventing a mob war from breaking out between the Falcone and Maroni families. Batman: The Long Halloween is one of the definitive Batman stories that places major emphasis on a film noir mystery with gothic undertones. It served as a major inspiration for Christopher Nolan while he worked on The Dark Knight and continues to influence recent stories featuring the caped crusader like The Batman.
