An icon of American literature and culture, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn tells the simple story of a boy and his best friend sailing down the Mississippi River on a raft. During their travels, they encounter thieves, two warring families, and a King and a Duke. Beneath the charmingly broken English and comic misadventures is a story that explores heavy themes. Themes about the long-lasting effects of racism and slavery in America, the hypocrisy of “civilized” southern society, the violence and foolishness that money creates, and learning to choose to do the right thing even if everyone else says it’s wrong. Many claim that Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has not aged well. This is not the case for Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as timely and relevant as ever.
