Once again, Charlie Chaplin reappears as the Tramp in a comedic film that is once again filled with social commentary. The film depicts the Tramp and his female counterpart as unemployed factory workers who try to find work while not going to jail. The film was controversial for its critical portrayal of industry but was beloved by audiences and critics as it spoke to the hardships of living in the Great Depression.
