Tomorrow's Joe

Joe Yabuki does not trust anyone. After a rough childhood spent moving between foster homes and fighting off bullies, Joe decides to live like a delinquent and fight anyone that stands in his way. Danpe Tangei, a washed-up boxing coach, notices Joe’s animalistic fighting and sees an opportunity. The two begin an explosive relationship that slowly turns into a bond of trust as the two work together to protect the homeless kids of San’ya and become champions of the boxing world. Tomorrow’s Joe is a story of perseverance, tragedy, and the fighting spirit. It has been massively influential for other anime and manga, even inspiring the Japanese Red Army to shout “We are tomorrow’s Joe!” during the Yodogo hijacking.
